This popular seasoning has also used medicinally for digestive complaints, stimulating the immune system, killing intestinal parasites as well as for treating acne. Basil has long been used for medicinal purposes in countries such as Asia, Africa and India, where it is considered a sacred herb. The aromatic herb has many beneficial properties. As an antibacterial, Basil is useful as an external application for drawing out poisons from stings and bites, and a strong tea could be helpful for acne. Its stimulant effect is used to treat exhaustion, promote energy and clear mental fogginess; and as antispasmodic, Basil is a well-known remedy for whooping coughs, spasms and stomach cramps.

Common use: Indigestion, gas, nausea, vomiting, nausea from chemotherapy, colds, whooping cough, fever, intestinal parasites, infectious illnesses, headache, Externally: acne, insect bites and stings (wasp, hornet), sores, fungal skin infections, ringworm, thrush.

Suggested Directions: As an addition to the diet, take 1 or 2 capsules, three times daily with water at mealtimes.
